HD 5.1 Music Salon Series - Matthew Shipp

matthew-shippCULTURE CATCH & Ed Bennett present jazz pianist MATTHEW SHIPP -- an evening of food, drink, music, and smart conversation.

This extraordinary event affords a select group of invited VIPs an unprecedented opportunity to discuss in an informal and casual setting the impact of music and the cultural significance it may or may not have on our society. We're looking for the integrity of the musician and their symbiotic relationship with our culture.

Salon is Wednesday, Oct. 1st, 7 - 10 PM; invitation-only.

No, we're not culture snobs -- well, maybe just a little bit -- but space is tight in the spectacular Bennett Media Studio.

The evening will begin with drinks and light food, followed by a 15-minute introduction/interview by Dusty Wright, a private set of music by the artist, and an audience Q&A afterwards. And the interview and performance will be recorded in HD 5.1 Surround Sound for a future HD 5.1 video podcast.

"I have no influences -- I existed together with god and the piano before time began -- and my piano playing is the direct result of the fact that my mind and the cosmic mind that sustains the universe are in harmony so when I play I intercept electro-magnetic frequencies directly from the mind of god and can convert them into lyrical phrases on the piano." - Matthew Shipp

In association with Gibson, Holophone, and Izze.

There are moments in our

There are moments in our lives when we feel lucky to witness greatness. Living in New York affords you many opportunities but they are most beautiful when you least expect them. Last week I got a last minute call to attend the Music Salon show featuring jazz virtuoso Matthew Shipp. Little did I know that I would meet so many lovely people and get a full hour of uninterrupted piano stories. Our Shipp sailed through every season and every emotion. From hurricane winds to the first blossom of spring, from rage to sweet adoration - we all felt it, collectively.
